Tour Details

One Day, Zero Rush — Alexandria to the Giza Plateau, the Sphinx, and Inside the Great Pyramid

  • This private, one-day tour takes you from Alexandria, Egypt's Mediterranean port city, to the Giza Plateau near Cairo, where the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure have stood for over four thousand years.
  • A licensed Egyptologist guide travels with you the entire day, and the Khufu Pyramid Entry—the chance to actually step inside the largest pyramid ever built—is included, not sold as an upgrade. If you're based in Alexandria and want Giza done right without booking a Cairo hotel, this is built for exactly that.
  • Here's how the day actually works. A private, air-conditioned vehicle covers the distance to Giza, so the drive becomes part of the experience rather than dead time before it. At the plateau, your guide walks you through what each pyramid meant to the pharaoh who built it, then leads you inside Khufu's Pyramid through the narrow ascending passage to the King's Chamber.
  • After that comes something most itineraries treat as an afterthought: a camel ride across the desert, with the pyramids framing the view behind you. The day closes at the Great Sphinx, the lion-bodied guardian carved from the plateau's bedrock, before the private transfer back to Alexandria.
  • Every stop connects: Alexandria to the Giza Plateau, into the Khufu Pyramid, out to the desert on camelback, and finally to the Sphinx—one guide, one vehicle, and no fixed pace but yours.

Itinerary

Day1

Alexandria to the Giza Pyramids: Khufu Entry, Camel Ride & the Sphinx

  • Your day starts with pickup from your hotel in Alexandria, Egypt's Mediterranean port city, in a private, air-conditioned vehicle.
  • The drive to the Giza Plateau near Cairo takes a few hours, with your Egyptologist guide on hand from the moment you're picked up—so the transfer itself becomes part of the tour rather than dead time before it.
  • At the plateau, you'll see the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure standing together, each built for a different pharaoh of Egypt's Fourth Dynasty. Your guide leads you inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu through the narrow ascending passage toward the King's Chamber—the rare part of a Giza visit most day tours skip. From there, a camel ride crosses the surrounding desert, with the three pyramids framing the view behind you.
  • Lunch is included before the day closes at the Great Sphinx, the lion-bodied guardian carved from the plateau's bedrock. Your private vehicle then returns you to your hotel in Alexandria.

Inclusions/Exclusions

Inclusions

  • Private, air-conditioned vehicle suitable for wheelchair users for the full Alexandria–Giza round trip.
  • Licensed, fluent English-speaking Egyptologist guide with you throughout the day.
  • Entry ticket inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu — not just the general plateau ticket.
  • Camel ride across the desert at the Giza Plateau.
  • Lunch during the tour.
  • Bottled water on board during the tour.
  • All taxes and service charges included.
Exclusions
  • Any extras not mentioned in the itinerary.
  • Gratuities/tipping.
  • Tipping is not included for Easter tours; Christmas and New Year tours are priced separately.

Notes

  • Getting inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu: The interior passages are narrow, steep, and low—expect to stoop and climb in a confined space to reach the King's Chamber. It isn't recommended for anyone with claustrophobia, mobility limitations, back problems, or heart conditions, and pregnant travelers should check with a doctor first. Entry is also subject to availability set by Egyptian antiquities authorities; on the rare occasion access is restricted, we'll adjust the day's plan and let you know in advance where possible.
  • Camel ride: The ride takes place on natural desert terrain around the Giza Plateau. Let us know in advance if anyone in your group has back issues, is pregnant, or has limited mobility, so we can plan around it.
  • What to wear: Modest, breathable clothing is recommended—shoulders and knees covered is a safe default for Giza and most Egyptian sites. Closed, comfortable shoes are worth it for the desert and the pyramid's uneven interior steps. Sun protection (hat and sunscreen) matters most of the year here.
